License, trial and updates
Cropped Core is free
Cropped Core is free forever: capture, recording, annotation, cropping, the Drop Zone and image, video and PDF optimizing, with every Core update. It needs no license, account or payment, on as many computers as you like.
Try Pro free for 14 days
Every download includes a 14-day free trial of Cropped Pro. It starts by itself the first time you optimize or export something yourself, so that export simply carries on. The watch folder and AI tools never start it. You can also click Try Pro free for 14 days in Preferences › Account. No payment details are needed. Starting the trial needs an internet connection once; after that it works offline until it ends.
When the trial ends, Cropped Core keeps working and nothing is charged. A small note at the foot of the queue says so; close it and it stays closed.
Add Pro
Click Add Pro in Preferences › Account, on any Pro tool, or choose Upgrade to Cropped Pro… in the app menu (the Help menu on Windows and Linux). Pick monthly or yearly and finish in your browser; Pro switches on when you come back to Cropped. You don't need an account. If you add Pro during the trial, the rest of your trial carries on and Pro takes over when it ends.
To change or cancel Pro, click Manage subscription in Preferences › Account. Cropped Core keeps working either way.
Activate your license
Bought Cropped before Core became free, or got a code from us? Your license keeps working exactly as it did.
- Copy your license code. It starts with crop_ and is shown on the page you land on after checkout, with a Copy purchase key button. A complimentary or replacement code arrives by email.
- In Cropped, click the license button at the top right of the window. It says Core · Add Pro, Pro or how many days of Pro are left. Preferences (Settings on a Mac) opens on its Account tab. You can also open Preferences yourself and click Account.
- Under Cropped desktop, click Activate a license code, paste the code and click Activate key.
The license button then shows your plan.
A paid license or Pro covers up to 5 of your computers at a time. A computer keeps its place for 30 days after it last activated, so replacing a computer or reinstalling frees a place on its own. If Cropped says the key is already in use on 5 computers, contact us and we'll move it.
Lost your code?
In Cropped, click Lost your key? Email it to me under Cropped desktop, enter the email you bought with and click Email me my key. You can also go to cropped.app/billing/recover. The email links to a page with your key; paste it under Activate a license code.
Reinstalling or moving Cropped
You don't need your key again when you reinstall Cropped, move it to Applications or update it. Cropped keeps your license on this computer and finds it on its own.
Using Cropped offline
A paid license checks in with the license server about once a month and keeps working offline for 90 days after the last check. If Cropped says "Connect to the internet once so Cropped can confirm your license", connect and click Check again.
Your images and videos are never uploaded, with or without a license check.
Updates
Cropped downloads updates in the background, then offers Restart to update when your work is safe. To check now, click the version number at the bottom of the queue, or Check for updates in Preferences › General. Alpha and stable update separately. Older apps that show Download need one installer upgrade to receive this flow; the Legacy Mac edition keeps manual updates. See Install app updates.
