Capture a webpage and add a browser frame
Capturing just the webpage is Mac only for now; on Windows and Linux, a window capture keeps the browser's tabs and address bar. Browser frames work on Mac, Windows and Linux. Webpage only uses the browser's reported content bounds. Browser frames are optional decorations added when you export; your original stays in capture history.
Capture the webpage
Under Preferences → Capture, enable Webpage only. Give Cropped Accessibility access in macOS System Settings using the button beside the setting. Screen Recording access is also needed.
Use Window capture and select the browser. Cropped removes the tabs, address bar and other controls from the captured area. Ordinary application windows still capture normally. Chrome, Safari and other supported browser families are detected by their app identifier, and Cropped asks Chrome-based browsers to share their page outline. If a browser doesn't share it, or Accessibility access is off, Cropped saves the whole window instead, so a window capture always gives you a picture. When that happens, the Drop window says so and why.
The Accessibility access line under Webpage only shows whether macOS has allowed Cropped. If it says Allow…, click it and turn on Cropped in the list. If Cropped already looks on there, switch it off and on again; macOS can stop honoring the switch after an update.
For a recording, start Record, switch the picker to Window with Space, then click the browser window. The setting applies to that take. The initial webpage bounds are used throughout the recording: keep the browser size, sidebars and toolbars unchanged. Moving the window is fine. This captures the visible viewport, not a full scrolling webpage.
Automatic click zooms are available with area recordings. Window recordings can use assistant-marked points or zooms you add in Studio.
A connected assistant can explicitly request webpage_only: true with capture_window or start_recording. The assistant still needs your normal capture permissions and, for a recording, approval of that take.
Add a browser skin
Open an image in Annotate, or a recording in the Studio video editor. Choose Browser frame → Light, Dark, or Minimal. Enter an optional title and display address. Cropped never copies real tabs or URLs into these fields.
Choose None to remove the frame before saving. In Annotate, Undo and Redo include frame changes. Save creates a flattened image copy; in Studio, export creates a separate video or GIF. Browser frames add height above the content, keeping the content's pixels and proportions. Crop away any browser controls already present in a full-window image before adding a new frame.
These decorations also support captions and GIF exports. A browser frame is an SDR picture, so an HDR video with a frame is saved in SDR, and Cropped says so when it finishes. Check the finished export before sharing.
